Seven students staying in London last week

Seven advanced students in English language went to London last week from May 5th to 10th. They flew to the capital and arrived there only an hour after departing. Later on Wednesday night they discovered London by night, Trafalgar Square and Picadilly Circus, close to the place where they were accomodated.

On Thursday morning they visited St Paul's and Temple Church (where some scenes of « The Da Vinci Code » were shot), then Covent Garden where they were to come back later and enjoy street  shows. But these were shorts visits as they were expected in a school near Croydon in order to meet an English friend who once attended our lycee, and her class. This first afternoon gave them an opportunity to compare English and French curriculums, time-tables and ways of life. The French girls also introduced our region and its specialities to the class. In the evening, after enjoying some fish and chips in a pub, They had a nice walk in Chinatown.

Friday was very busy with going to Madame Tussaud's and shopping in Oxford and Regent Streets. In the evening, after having dinner in a pub, they went to see a musical in Picadilly Theatre. After the performance, they met the main actors who accepted photos with them.

Eventually, on the Saturday , they visited South Bank, the Globe theatre, a replica of Shakespeare's theatre re-built practically in the same location as it used to be, the Tate Modern, a museum of modern art, then , back to the other side of the river, by boat, to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

This was a very lively and full stay, which gave the pupils many opportunities to communicate, and made them more confident in their language practice. They now have to work hard and get ready for the oral examinations that will take place in a few weeks.
